About Dave
Dave Boyle moved to the Big Island in1999. He is an amateur photographer with a passion for the workings of Pele. He has spent countless hours in Pele's realm in search of photo opportunities.
Dave is a volunteer in the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. His assignment is the photo documentation of park personnel, events, and the ever changing character of a live volcano! He happily spends countless hours in the new 116,000 acre Kahuku Unit documenting it becoming part of the park. The transition from active cattle ranch to a natural treasure is quite daunting.
Dave originally lived in the cool damp Northwest. He was a teacher and stationary engineer. He is a long term cancer survivor. First diagnosed in 1988 he has faced the challenge three times and won after lengthy battles. Today he is cancer free and moving forward in life with no time to look back!
Dave is a father of three sons and a daughter. He has three grand children so far. When they visit he takes them to view the action. Dave and his younger brother, Ron, share a home in Puna. Ron also volunteers as a photographer. His older brother Art and wife Loretta reside in Tacoma Washington.
